A personnel area is a specific entity within SAP HR Personnel Administration (PA). It represents a subdivision of the company code. The individual personnel areas in a company code consist of a four-digit alphanumeric code.


Personnel areas have the following functions:


  • They allow you to generate default values for data entry, including payroll accounting areas.

  • They can be used as selection criterion for reporting.

  • They can serve as a basis for authorization checks.

Use


Generally in SAP, the personnel area corresponds to an actual workplace site, whether it is a factory, a research laboratory, a regional or head office, or a remote sales office. It can also be used to differentiate between different divisions within a company.


Steps to Create Personnel areas in SAP


SAP R/3 IMG Path : – SPRO >> Enterprise Structure >> Definition >> Human Resources Management >> Personnel Areas


Step 1:- You can create new personal areas by copying existed personal area or creating by selecting new entries


 


Step 2:- Select “Personnel Area”


Step 3:- Click on ” New Entries”


Step 4:- Update the following information


  • Enter new personnel area key and description

  • In the personnel areas section update the address fields – House number/street, Postal code, City, Country key,

Step 5:- After updating the information press enter, a pop window will be open for address details.


Step 6:- Update the address data and click on save icon to save the entries.
